Brett and I are making a tradition of heading to Utah each May for the Running with Angels 5K that supports families that have lost babies. This year we decided to take in a Salt Lake Bees baseball game the night before.

The weather was quite cloudy and rain was in the forecast. It wasn't a very packed game due to the weather...so after the game had started we decided to move down a couple of rows for better seats.
During one of the breaks Brett went to use the bathroom. While he was gone, they did a prize for anyone sitting in certain seats. One of the #s they called was Brett's seat (he is lucky-he always wins things). The winners got a free pizza; however, we were not sitting in our original seats which was the winning seat.
When he came back from the bathroom I told him they called his seat out to win a pizza. He went to tell the announcer that he had a winning ticket and that he had been "out" when they called the #s. The announcer said they would bring his prize down in a few minutes. He went to sit in his original seat. (I stayed sitting in our "better" seats and kept laughing. It was funny to see him sitting up there all by himself waiting for his prize.)
He waited and waited and waited and no one ever came. He finally came down and joined me for the rest of the game. I guess that is what we get for moving seats. He never did get his prize.
Before the game was over it began to rain, and it rained HARD! We were prepared with an umbrella. Most of the fans left when it started raining.We were die-hards and stayed for the entire game. I was FREEZING though! I had so many layers and blankets on, but I stuck it out!
The next morning was the race. This race was unique for a few reasons this year:
#1-Justin and Natalie were asked to be one of the families to release the doves before the race began. Cannon was fascinated with the doves.
He is such a cutie! Kaiya is so lucky to have such a great brother!
The lady in the blue is the one that organizes this race each year. She is incredible! She has had many trials of her own-including the loss of two babies. She is the one that wrote the book "Running with Angels"-terrific book!

#2-The race went the opposite direction this year. Part of the gardens were under construction so they changed the course. Before the race.
Lots of runners supporting their loved ones. This race has the most peaceful feeling there! It is hard to describe, but it is incredible!
#3-Rain, rain, and more rain! It rained the ENTIRE race! Few pics of the racers...not sure why some of us have to pull faces or stick out our tongues when we get our pics taken, but we all do it!
We were SOAKED when it was over, but it didn't dampen anyone's spirits...just their clothes and their hands and feet and heads!
But we love it! And we will be back next year if we can! We love you Kaiya!
