"H" is for Happy birthdays!

"H" is for "Happy birthdays!" We love Happy birthdays at our house!  In August Brett and I both have our birthdays.  The kids gave Brett a Dallas Cowboys hat and the younger kids decorated him an apron to use when he is cooking on the grill. 

Every year for my birthday Brett buys an ice cream cake.  He started this about 6 or 7 years ago because the kids asked him if he was going to make a cake.  He opted for Dairy Queen making the cake...well, now it is tradition!  That is the only time every year we buy an ice cream cake, but the best part is we all get to enjoy one every year!  (I think that is why the kids like to celebrate my birthday! :)

Kallie turned 8 this October (baptism pictures to follow in a later post).  This was the year she got to get her ears pierced.  She couldn't wait.  We let Malorie take a friend with her when she got her ears pierced.  Kallie chose to take her cousin Alexa.  She said she chose her because she wanted to take someone that already had their ears pierced so they could tell her it didn't hurt too bad! We had lunch at Panda Express before heading over to the mall for the ear piercing.

She picked out her earrings and held onto the "Claire's Bear".  Are you ready?

Get set? (She got a little nervous!)

Go!  She did it!  All smiles afterwards!  After it was over she said it didn't hurt very bad-just stung!  She did a great job!

(Tomorrow it will be 6 weeks since she got them pierced.  She can take her earrings out and put other ones in!  Boy is she excited!)

an art kit (which she wanted REALLY bad!)  She loves to color and draw.

And many more fun things!  Her grandparents came over and we had cake and ice cream.

Can't forget the picture with the kids.  (Small group.  We didn't have everyone over because we were having a baptism dinner later that week with family.  Alexa had stayed over after getting Kallie's ears pierced, and Bryce stayed at their house with Tanner-thus, no Bryce in the picture.)

Later that night they decided to dress the birthday girl up in crazy clothes and "do her hair"!  It was quite a sight-but a cute sight!

She also had a friend party this year.  We took her and her friends to Evans to get their nails painted and then to Kiwi Loco for ice cream and to the park to play!  Fun way to do a party and no mess at my house!

Malorie's birthday is 9 days after Kallie's.  Big birthdays for both of them this year...Kallie got baptized and Malorie turned 12 and is now in Young Women's.  She was super excited for that!  She too had a friend party.  She wanted to play volleyball and have pizza.  It wasn't warm enough to do it outside so we had it at the church-which worked out well.  The girls played volleyball for awhile and then we played some other games and ate pizza. 

They were a fun and crazy group of girls.

She got some fun presents from her friends. 

I think one of her favorites was her toe socks.  She got a few pairs of those. 

We had a party with our family.  We love to do that and have the cousins and grandparents over.  On her birthday list this year she put OREOS!  She loves them!  Kallie got her a big box of them (and she got some others from friends).

We love birthdays at our house.  The boys' birthdays are in the winter...not too far away!  I am thankful to celebrate birthdays and to enjoy those "HAPPY" days with our family, extended family, and sometimes friends!
