Bear Lake Reunion

In August my sister, Heather, and her husband Koby were in charge of our family reunion.  They planned a great reunion to Bear Lake.

They found a cabin to rent for two nights-three days for our whole family to stay in...all 30 of us!  It was a great deal...$75 per family for 2 nights!  Can't beat sleeping for $38 a night as a family!  LOT cheaper than a hotel and a lot better view!

They planned a lot of great activities.  We went to the park and let the kids play on the playground soon after everyone arrived.  (They waited for us because our van got a flat tire near Pocatello on the way down.  It was Sunday and NO tire stations were open.  We had to go to Walmart to get a replacement.  It was so busy!  Lots of people travelling with tire problems.)

Then they put us on teams for a relay!  Everyone was all shuffled up so each team had a couple of adults, couple of big kids, and a couple of little kids.  Each team had to decide who on their team would do each part of the relay course.  For some reason my family was chosen on most of the teams to eat the powder donut as fast as they could.

I can't remember if they had to whistle after eating it or just prove they had eaten it ALL GONE!

Either way it was quite entertaining!

The next day the men got up and went golfing.  It was a beautiful morning to just sit out on the deck and enjoy the warmth of the sun and the beauty of the lake while two of my sister-in-laws took most of the kids on a bug hunt.

We ate lunch and then headed to the lake for the day.  This was one of the highlights!  Adults and kids both were excited to enjoy a day at the lake.  Our family hadn't been there for quite some time.

My dad even went out of his "norm" and wore a swimming suit and took off his socks!  He doesn't go ANYWHERE without socks...not even walking around his own house.  We all got quite a kick out of his sock line!

The weather got a little cloudy, but it didn't stop the beach from being busy!

Brett found some sort of body board and thought he would try to ride it!

Not such a great idea!  He hurt his foot running out to jump on top of it!  He was in a lot of pain the rest of the reunion!

He took it easy the rest of the day and shared his food with Adrie!

That night after dinner and a great Family Home Evening...

we went into town for a Bear Lake shake!  Yum!  It makes me want one right now just typing about it!  There is another funny story behind this outing.  We wanted to stop at the BEST shop for a shake.  There were about 4 or 5 little shops close together to get shakes.  We could NOT make up our minds which one to go to.  We started at one...then talked to some "locals" that said the one down the street was better.  We ran down there and they had just closed...so...we took a picture on their chairs!

Then we started to go to another one where some of the family was in line and they didn't have the kind Conner wanted...so...we ran back to the one we started at!  After taste-testing each others' from the different shops everyone agreed the place we started at and ended up going back to after all that running around had the BEST shakes!  They were FULL of the fruit or chocolate or whatever everyone ordered and they were SO GOOD!

I love spending time with our extended families!  We tried to get a "grandkid" picture, but we weren't very successful!  When we were getting all of the kids on the stairs we realized my two big kids weren't even at the cabin!  Whoops!
